Red Ford Explorer sought in string of D.C. vehicle break-ins

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A red Ford Explorer is at the center of an investigation into a series of vehicle break-ins that occurred Friday morning across multiple neighborhoods in the First District.

The first incident was reported at approximately 8:41 a.m. in the Unit block of K Street, Northeast, where suspects broke into a vehicle and stole property. Shortly after, at 9:09 a.m., two suspects reportedly broke into another vehicle on the 400 block of 12th Street, Northeast, stole property, and fled in the red SUV.

A third vehicle break-in was reported at 9:37 a.m. on the 200 block of D Street, Southeast. Officers discovered a shattered vehicle window but have not determined if any items were stolen in this case.

Images of the suspects and their vehicle were captured by a nearby surveillance camera, and the Metropolitan Police Department has released the footage in an effort to identify those responsible.
