Quick Arrest Made in Northwest D.C. Robbery Attempt WASHINGTON, DC - Following a Northwest robbery attempt, D.C. Metro Police Department’s Third District detectives have swiftly apprehended a suspect. The incident occurred today around 2:53 PM, in the 1200 block of W Street, Northwest. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Lenare Leath, Jr. of Northwest D.C., allegedly brandished a knife and pushed the victim to the ground in an attempt to steal their property. After a struggle, the suspect fled empty-handed but was quickly caught by responding officers. The victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. WASHINGTON, D.C. — A shooting in Northwest D.C. on Tuesday afternoon left a 17-year-old girl injured and led to the arrest of an 18-year-old suspect who later turned himself in to authorities.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:02 p.m. on December 17 in the 200 block of Morgan Street NW. Officers arrived at the scene and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation revealed that two suspects attempted to rob the victim at gunpoint before a third suspect exited a vehicle, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Police later distributed a photo of one of the suspects to the public.

On the morning of December 18, Justice Thomas, 18, of Northeast D.C., surrendered to police and was arrested. He faces charges of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
