POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — A narcotics dealer operating in the South Cherry Street area of Poughkeepsie was arrested following an investigation by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force, authorities announced.
Bernard Diggs, a recent resident of the City of Poughkeepsie, was apprehended on December 17 while conducting a hand-to-hand exchange of narcotics with an unidentified woman. At the time of his arrest, Diggs was found in possession of fentanyl packaged for sale, officials said.
As part of the investigation, Drug Task Force agents had made multiple purchases of narcotics from Diggs. He is charged with one count of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell, both class B felonies.
Following his arraignment in City of Poughkeepsie Court, Diggs was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $50,000 cash bail, a $150,000 partially secured bond, or a $300,000 secured bond. Officials noted that additional charges against him are pending.
