School bus crash in Monroe Township injures four students, investigation underway

MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A school bus carrying students from Monroe Township Middle School crashed into a tree Thursday afternoon, injuring four students, including one who suffered a broken leg, according to police.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m. as the bus was traveling eastbound on North State Home Road, police said. For reasons still under investigation, the bus veered off the roadway and struck a tree on the driver’s side.

Emergency responders, including Monroe Township Police, EMS, and Fire personnel, arrived on the scene to assist the injured. One student with a broken leg was transported to a local hospital, while three others with minor injuries were also hospitalized. Several additional students who reported minor complaints were evaluated on-site by medical personnel and later released to their parents.

The Monroe Township Traffic Safety Bureau is leading the investigation into the crash. Authorities have asked anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the Traffic Safety Bureau at 732-521-0222 Ext. 126.
