GLEN BURNIE, Md. — A Glen Burnie woman walked away $50,000 richer after her friend selected a pink $20 Millionaire’s Club scratch-off ticket that turned out to be a big winner, according to Maryland Lottery officials.
The pair purchased the lucky ticket at a Glen Burnie 7-Eleven while heading home from work. A fan of lottery games, the friend said he chose the ticket based on its pink color and bought just one. “I saw it was $50,000 and yelled and screamed a little bit,” he recalled, laughing, as they discovered their win while scratching the ticket in their car.
The winner kept the ticket secure in a safe until claiming the prize at Lottery headquarters. She has yet to decide how she will use her windfall and is keeping the news under wraps.
The winning ticket is the first of six $50,000 second-tier prizes for the Millionaire’s Club game, which also boasts five $1 million top prizes—three of which remain unclaimed—along with other prizes ranging from $20 to $10,000.
