FOREST HEIGHTS, Md. — Prince George’s County Police are investigating a double fatal shooting that left two young men dead Tuesday evening in the town of Forest Heights.

The victims, identified as 24-year-old Brian Freeman of Forest Heights and 21-year-old Sakou Mathis of Washington, D.C., were found suffering from gunshot wounds outside a residence in the 100 block of Seneca Drive. Officers from the Forest Heights Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 5:50 p.m., where both men were pronounced dead.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation and is working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

“The investigation is active and ongoing,” the department stated in its preliminary report. Forest Heights Police officers were the first to arrive on the scene, but fatal shootings in the area are routinely handled by the county’s homicide detectives.

No further details about the incident or potential suspects have been released. Officials have asked anyone with information to come forward as they continue their inquiry into the events of Tuesday evening.
