HACKENSACK, N.J. – A father and son from Hackensack are facing multiple charges after authorities uncovered over six pounds of crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, and a stolen firearm during a narcotics distribution investigation, police said.
Jahfari Raheem Miller, 41, and Melachi Miller, 19, were arrested on December 12 after the Hackensack Police Department’s Crime Suppression Bureau executed a Superior Court-ordered search warrant at an apartment and a 2021 Chevy Tahoe.
The search, led by Detective Aaron Rios and the bureau under Detective Lieutenant John Dalton, revealed an aftermarket hidden compartment in the vehicle containing a stolen, loaded Ruger LCP handgun and additional narcotics. Police also recovered packaging materials intended for drug distribution.
Both suspects were charged with first-degree narcotics distribution and several related offenses. Jahfari Miller faces additional weapons charges stemming from the discovery of the stolen firearm.
The two were processed and transported to the Bergen County Jail, where they await their first appearance at Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
