GoFundMe launched to help family expand search for missing Philadelphia teen

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support the search for Imani Ayala, a 17-year-old girl who has been missing since December 11, 2024. The fundraiser aims to provide a $500 reward for information leading to Imani’s whereabouts, as well as financial assistance for her family’s outreach efforts and day-to-day necessities during the search.

Imani was last seen leaving her home in the Mantua/Mill Creek neighborhood around 9 p.m. on December 11. Surveillance footage captured her at the 52nd and Market Street MFL Station at 9:13 p.m., heading eastbound. She was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and sneakers at the time.

The campaign highlights the leadership and community contributions of Amanda Ayala, Imani’s mother, who serves as the Executive Administrator of the Black Farmers Co-op and is a vocal advocate for sustainability and equity in Philadelphia’s food systems. Organizers described Amanda as a dedicated community leader and a parent committed to improving the lives of others, now calling on the community to return that support.

The initial fundraising goal is $3,000 to cover reward funds, outreach materials such as flyers, and support for the family’s living expenses while they focus on finding Imani. Any unused funds or surplus donations will be given to YEAH Philly, a nonprofit working with Philadelphia youth.

Community members with information about Imani’s disappearance are encouraged to come forward, while those wishing to support the search can contribute to the GoFundMe campaign.

This effort reflects the outpouring of support for the Ayala family as they work tirelessly to bring Imani home safely.
