BRONX, NY — A 40-year-old man was injured Monday night after an unidentified individual entered the train operator’s cabin of a southbound “6” train and threw an object through a train car window, police said.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:05 p.m. on December 9 at the East 149th Street subway station. Authorities reported that the suspect removed a wooden conductor’s board from the operator’s cabin and hurled it through the window, striking the victim on the head as he stood on the southbound platform.
The suspect remained on the southbound “6” train and fled to an unknown location, according to officials.
The victim sustained a laceration to his head and was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, where he was listed in stable condition.
The NYPD is investigating the incident and working to identify the suspect involved.
Authorities continue to search for the individual responsible for the unprovoked subway attack.
