Utica police arrest man in stabbing investigation near Oneida Square

UTICA, N.Y. — A 24-year-old man was arrested on Sunday after a stabbing incident near Oneida Square left one person injured, according to the Utica Police Department.

Police and fire units were dispatched to the area at approximately 1:40 p.m. after reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim suffering from facial lacerations. The victim told police that an unknown individual had exited a store, started an argument with him, and then attempted to stab him multiple times in the face and head with a knife. The suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack.

The Utica Fire Department treated the victim at the scene for his injuries. Meanwhile, a witness informed police that they had followed the suspect and saw him enter a nearby residence. Officers responded to the location and were able to take the suspect into custody without incident.

The suspect, identified as Jaquan Henderson, 24, was arrested and transported to the Utica Police Department for processing.
