Maryland Lottery players win big as $1 million Mega Millions ticket sold in Bel Air

BALTIMORE, Md. – A Maryland Lottery player in Bel Air became an instant millionaire last week after purchasing a $1 million second-tier winning ticket for the Dec. 10 Mega Millions drawing, as the jackpot continued its climb toward $740 million.

The $1 million winning ticket remains unclaimed as of Dec. 16, with the winner having 182 days from the drawing date to claim the prize. This marks the second $1 million ticket sold in Maryland during the current Mega Millions jackpot roll, which began after the last jackpot win on Sept. 10 in Texas.

Meanwhile, Maryland Lottery players saw other major wins last week. A scratch-off player in Reisterstown claimed a $200,000 prize, while a ticket purchased in Waldorf delivered a $100,000 win. Additionally, six third-tier Mega Millions winners across the state have claimed prizes of $40,000, $20,000, and $10,000 in recent weeks.

The next Mega Millions drawing on Dec. 17 features a jackpot of $740 million, with a cash option of $342.9 million. If hit, the jackpot would be the eighth-largest in Mega Millions history.

During the week of Dec. 9-15, the Maryland Lottery awarded more than $31.3 million in prizes, including 19 tickets worth $10,000 or more.
