TRENTON, N.J. – What started as a bad day for one Morris County resident ended with a life-changing windfall, thanks to a lucky stop at a Lincoln Park convenience store.

The player, whose name has not been disclosed, decided to treat himself to a $20 100X Cash Blitz Scratch-Off ticket at Wolfson’s Market on Wednesday. That single ticket turned out to be a winner, making him the recipient of one of the game’s $1 million top prizes.

The player described struggling to believe his luck after forgetting his reading glasses, making it difficult to distinguish between some of the numbers on the ticket. Eventually, he confirmed the win and said he initially hoped for a smaller prize before realizing the full amount.

The $1 million prize is awarded in annuity payments, but the winner chose the cash option, walking away with $602,300 after taxes. He described the feeling as surreal but welcomed the financial relief, as he is recovering from shoulder surgery and preparing for retirement in a few months.

The winner also cares for his elderly mother, who is in her 90s, and said the money will help ease financial challenges for both of them. A friend who accompanied him to New Jersey Lottery headquarters called the win perfectly timed for the challenges he had been facing.

The win marks the second of three $1 million prizes in the 100X Cash Blitz game, leaving one top prize remaining.
