Philadelphia police seek suspect in unprovoked attack at Market Street bus stop

PHILADELPHIA — Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a woman captured on video assaulting a 63-year-old woman waiting for a bus on Market Street earlier this week.

The incident occurred on December 11 at approximately 11:44 a.m. at the 1100 block of Market Street, according to the Central Detective Division. The victim was standing at the bus stop when an unidentified woman approached her, yelling before striking her in the face with a closed fist.

The blow knocked the victim to the ground. The suspect fled the scene, and the motive for the assault remains unclear, police said.

Authorities described the suspect as a Black female with black hair. She was wearing a black hat, black jacket, blue jeans, and tan boots at the time of the incident.

Investigators released video footage of the assault and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
