Mike, the New Jersey Pirate Kitty, Seeking a Furrrrrr-ever Home

NEWARK, N.J. — A three-month-old kitten named Mike, affectionately nicknamed “the mighty one-eyed pirate,” is seeking a permanent home after being rescued and placed in the care of the Associated Humane Societies (AHS) in Newark.

Mike’s distinctive appearance, featuring a single eye, has endeared him to staff at the shelter, who describe him as a playful and affectionate kitten despite his unique look. Shelter representatives say he enjoys exploring his surroundings and curling up with his caretakers.

At just three months old, Mike is still learning the ropes of kittenhood but is expected to grow into a loyal and adventurous companion for the right family. AHS is actively seeking potential adopters willing to provide Mike with a patient and loving home.

“Mike may look like a little pirate, but he’s a sweetheart through and through,” said AHS staff in a statement on their adoption page, encouraging interested adopters to meet him and learn more.

Those wishing to adopt Mike can visit the AHS website at ahscares.org/adopt and apply using his ID number, 77457.
