DOVER, Del. — Delaware State Police have arrested Kenneth Yarborough, 33, of Dover, following a series of burglaries targeting businesses in November and December 2024, authorities said.
The investigations began on November 24, when troopers responded to Ollie’s Bargain Outlet on S. Governors Avenue at approximately 3 a.m. Surveillance footage showed a suspect using a crowbar to force entry, causing damage, and stealing a safe containing an undisclosed amount of money. Hours later, a similar incident occurred at God’s Way Thrift Store on S. Dupont Highway, where a window was broken to gain access, resulting in another safe being stolen.
On December 6, troopers responded to Delaware Auto Exchange in Felton after a suspect broke in using a crowbar but fled without obtaining money. Days later, on December 9, Village Produce in Dover was burglarized in the same manner, with the suspect taking two safes. Surveillance footage from all incidents depicted a man wearing a black hoodie and carrying a book bag.
The Smyrna Police Department was simultaneously investigating a December 6 burglary at End Zone in Smyrna, where a safe was stolen after entry was forced with a crowbar. Collaboration between Smyrna detectives and Delaware State Police Troop 3 led investigators to identify Yarborough as the suspect.
On December 11, police executed a search warrant at Yarborough’s residence, recovering the book bag and clothing consistent with the surveillance footage.
Yarborough faces multiple charges related to the burglaries, including burglary, theft, and criminal mischief, as the investigation continues.
