BALTIMORE — Four teenagers were arrested Thursday after an unarmed carjacking targeting an elderly woman at a gas station in Baltimore, police said.
Northern District officers responded to a gas station in the 5600 block of York Road at around 8:37 a.m. after an 81-year-old woman reported that a male suspect, estimated to be between 16 and 20 years old, forcibly took her car keys and pushed his way into her sedan before fleeing.
The stolen vehicle was located hours later at approximately 12:45 p.m., thanks to a description broadcast by officers and assistance from Foxtrot Aviation and the Regional Auto Theft Taskforce (RATT). Police apprehended four 15-year-olds—three males and one female—inside the car in the 5400 block of York Road.
The three male suspects, all with prior arrests involving charges of handgun violations, burglary, and aggravated assault, were identified as known to law enforcement, officials said.
The juveniles were transported to the Juvenile Justice Center but were later released into the custody of their parents.
