Army marathon team runs game ball through Harford County ahead of Army-Navy game

HARFORD COUNTY, Md. — The Army West Point Marathon Team passed through Harford County overnight, continuing its annual tradition of carrying the game ball to the Army-Navy football game.

The team, which runs the ball from West Point, New York, to the site of the game, was escorted by the Harford County Sheriff’s Office from the Conowingo Dam to Fork Road in Baltimore County. The escort took place between 10:20 p.m. Thursday and 1:30 a.m. Friday morning, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

This year’s Army-Navy game will take place Saturday at FedExField in Landover, Maryland, marking the culmination of the marathon team’s multi-state journey.

“The Marathon Team carries on a cherished tradition,” the Harford County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a post about the event.

The escort highlighted the local community’s support for the military ahead of one of college football’s most celebrated rivalries.
