BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD – A Perry Hall resident is celebrating a $50,000 Powerball win months after randomly pulling the lucky ticket from a bucket during a group lottery play.

The man, part of a group trying Powerball for the first time, purchased 50 tickets back on Sept. 28, when the jackpot was an estimated $243 million. The group shuffled the tickets into a bucket and took turns picking them out. The lucky $2 quick-pick ticket drawn by the Perry Hall man contained four matching white balls and the Powerball, earning him a third-tier prize.

Unaware of his win, the man forgot about the ticket until December, when a conversation with a friend reminded him to check the numbers. Shocked by the $50,000 win, he shared the news with his wife, who had mixed emotions about the unexpected prize.

The winning ticket was purchased at Nottingham Royal Farms on Nottingham Drive in Baltimore County. The winner plans to bank the money while deciding how to use his windfall.
