WALDORF, MD – A Charles County woman is celebrating a $100,000 windfall after purchasing her first-ever Maryland Lottery ticket at a gas station in Waldorf.

The Southern Maryland resident, who typically does not carry cash, decided to buy a ticket on Friday after using cash to pay for gas at US Fuel on Crain Highway. Spotting the Lottery display, she picked out a $10 Mega Bucks scratch-off ticket, a game that debuted in late November.

Later that evening, she scratched the ticket and saw what appeared to be a top-prize match. Unsure if she had won, she asked a family member to confirm the results. To her shock, she had indeed hit the game’s $100,000 top prize, the first claimed since the game launched.

US Fuel will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. Eight more $100,000 prizes and nine $50,000 prizes remain unclaimed in the Mega Bucks game.
