LINDEN, N.J. — Union County law enforcement and public safety officials are actively monitoring reports of recent drone activity in the region, assuring residents that there is currently no known threat to public safety, according to a joint statement released Friday by local and county authorities.
Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, along with other top officials, confirmed that law enforcement agencies are working with federal and state partners, including the FBI and New Jersey State Police, to investigate the sightings.
The statement encourages residents to report any information regarding drones, also referred to as Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). Reports can be made by calling the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or submitting tips online at tips.fbi.gov, where videos can also be uploaded.
Authorities emphasized their commitment to public safety and encouraged citizens to visit the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness website for additional information about drone regulations and activity.
