NEWARK, DEL. — Delaware State Police have arrested 31-year-old John Arce of Newark on multiple felony charges after a vehicular assault and robbery at a Shell gas station earlier this week.
The incident occurred on December 4, 2024, at approximately 6:45 p.m. when a 38-year-old man was struck by a red car traveling at high speed through the gas station parking lot on East Chestnut Hill Road. After hitting the victim, the suspect exited the car, stole the man’s wallet, and fled the scene. The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
Investigators identified Arce, a relative of the victim, as the suspect. On December 6, Arce turned himself in at Troop 2, where he was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and reckless endangering.
Arce was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and is being held at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $185,000 cash bond.
