Monmouth County cops note increase in mysterious drone sightings

FREEHOLD, N.J. — Law enforcement officials in Monmouth County have confirmed receiving numerous reports of drone sightings in various municipalities this week, mirroring similar trends observed in other regions, Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago and Monmouth County Police Chiefs Association President Edward Gunnell announced Friday.

Sightings have been reported across the Bayshore Region, the Atlantic Coast, and interior parts of the county. While officials have assured the public that the drones do not currently pose any known threat to public safety, they are actively sharing information with partner agencies, including the FBI and New Jersey State Police.

“We acknowledge the public’s concerns and are working collaboratively to gather and assess information as it becomes available,” Santiago said.
