NEWARK, DEL. — Delaware State Police are actively searching for a man accused of striking a pedestrian with a car and robbing him in a Newark gas station parking lot Wednesday evening.
Authorities say the incident occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. at the Shell gas station on East Chestnut Hill Road. A 38-year-old man was walking through the parking lot when a red passenger car approached at high speed and struck him. The driver, identified as 31-year-old John Arce of Newark, then exited the vehicle, stole the victim’s wallet, and fled the scene, police said.
The victim, who sustained serious injuries, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Investigators later identified Arce as a family member of the victim.
Detectives from Troop 2 have issued a warrant for Arce’s arrest on multiple felony charges, including vehicular assault and robbery. His current location is unknown, and police are requesting assistance from the public to help locate him.
