SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Onondaga County, including the city of Syracuse, as heavy snow and strong winds are expected to sweep through the region.

The warning, which went into effect at 1 p.m. Wednesday, will remain in place until 4 a.m. Friday. Forecasters predict snowfall accumulations of 5 to 8 inches, with wind gusts reaching up to 45 miles per hour, creating potentially hazardous conditions for drivers and pedestrians.

The storm is expected to significantly impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution on the roads, particularly as visibility and travel conditions may rapidly deteriorate.

In light of the incoming snow, Syracuse officials reminded residents of the seasonal odd-even parking restrictions in effect downtown from November 1 through April 1. Overnight on-street parking alternates by side on marked blocks between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. to ensure snow plows can clear streets effectively.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather reports for updates and prepare for potential disruptions as the storm intensifies.
