Two in New City Sentenced for Murder of Grandfather

New City, NY – Constantinos Doonan and Jo-Ann Haughey of New City, NY, were sentenced for the death of Constantinos Mastakouris, as announced by the Rockland County District Attorney. Doonan faces a second-degree murder charge while Haughey was charged with first-degree manslaughter.

The incident occurred between January 29 and January 30, 2023, where both individuals were involved in the fatal strangulation of Mastakouris at his home on Ruth Drive. His body was concealed in the basement and his belongings, including a car and jewelry, were stolen.

District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II stated that the crime was an unimaginable act that devastated the family. He praised the work of the Clarkstown Police Department in investigating the case.

Doonan received a sentence of 20 years to life, while Haughey was sentenced to 15 years in prison. The case was prosecuted by Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Dominic Crispino and Supervising Assistant District Attorney Sharleen Bailon.
