NEWARK, Del. — Delaware State Police are investigating a violent robbery that left a man with serious injuries after he was intentionally struck by a car at a Shell gas station in Newark on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. at the gas station located at 380 East Chestnut Hill Road. Investigators said a 38-year-old man was walking through the parking lot when a red passenger car sped toward him and hit him.
After striking the victim, the driver exited the vehicle, stole the man’s wallet, and fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital by ambulance and is being treated for serious injuries.
Police described the suspect as a white male but have not released any surveillance footage or additional details about the car. Authorities believe this was an isolated incident and stated there is no ongoing threat to the public.
