Washington, D.C. — A months-long string of break-ins across Northwest DC neighborhoods has ended with the arrest of a 58-year-old man accused of committing 12 burglaries and an unlawful entry.
Donnell Washington, of Northwest DC, was arrested on November 30 following an investigation into a series of early morning burglaries targeting businesses in the Third and Fourth Districts. The offenses occurred between April and October, with locations ranging from 18th Street and Park Road to Mount Pleasant Street.
In addition to the burglary charges, Washington was also charged with assault on a police officer following a September 17 incident involving a Special Police Officer in the 3600 block of 16th Street.
The break-ins involved the suspect entering establishments, taking property, and fleeing. One attempted burglary on September 2 was unsuccessful, but 12 other incidents resulted in stolen property.
