Ohio man pleads guilty to stalking singer at her Pennsylvania home

GREENSBURG, Pa. — An Ohio man accused of repeatedly stalking a singer at her Murrysville home pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of stalking and defiant trespassing, according to Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli.

Anthony Carpenter, of Rutland, Ohio, was arrested on May 21, 2024, after Murrysville Police responded to a stalking incident in progress at the victim’s residence. Police said Carpenter, an obsessed fan, had visited the property multiple times despite visible “no trespassing” signs and was captured on surveillance video walking around the premises.

According to investigators, Carpenter sent numerous letters to the victim, a member of a well-known band, in which he professed his love and claimed he would not stop until he was with her. In April, the victim pressed charges after Carpenter was seen trespassing on her property. Days later, officers found him sleeping in Chambers Park, where he admitted he was there to profess his love for the victim.

Carpenter has remained in custody without bail since his arrest. Common Pleas Judge Timothy Krieger paroled him on December 2, giving him credit for time served. Under the terms of his parole, Carpenter must return to Ohio and is prohibited from contacting the victim, her family, or visiting their property.
