ROXBURY, NJ — The Roxbury community has come together in a wave of support for the Barooah family, who are mourning the devastating loss of their son Gavin in a tragic Thanksgiving accident. A GoFundMe campaign, launched to assist the family with funeral expenses and other memorial efforts, has already raised $15,757 of its $25,000 goal as of Tuesday.
The fundraiser, organized by Danielle Weynberg, aims to provide financial relief to the family during this difficult time. The Barooah family, long-time members of the Roxbury community, are known for raising three sons and being deeply involved locally. Contributions will help cover funeral costs and fund a future hockey scholarship at Roxbury High School, as well as a memorial bench in Gavin’s honor.
“Let’s come together to ease their burden,” Weynberg wrote on the campaign page. “The family has been a cherished part of Roxbury… now it’s our turn to show them how much they mean to us.”
Donations have poured in from nearly 300 contributors so far, with gifts ranging from $50 to $500, reflecting an outpouring of compassion from friends, neighbors, and even strangers. Among the contributors are Hackettstown Pediatrics, who made the largest single donation of $500, and Jonathan Coe, who made the campaign’s very first contribution.
The fundraiser continues to gain momentum as the community rallies to support the Barooah family in their time of grief, offering both financial assistance and heartfelt condolences.
Nearly $16,000 has been raised to honor a Roxbury family’s loss and establish a legacy in their son’s name.
