COBLESKILL, N.Y. — Fifty years after the murder of Katherine Kolodziej, New York State Police are renewing their efforts to solve the case, urging the public to come forward with any information.

Kolodziej, a student at the State University of New York at Cobleskill, was last seen leaving the Vault Tavern on Main Street in Cobleskill on the night of November 2, 1974. Her disappearance was reported by her roommate when she failed to return to their dorm that evening.

Nearly four weeks later, on November 28, 1974, Kolodziej’s body was discovered in a wooded area off McDonald Road in Richmondville, approximately five miles from where she was last seen. Authorities determined her death was a homicide, but no suspects have ever been identified.

The State Police Troop G Major Crimes Unit, along with SP Princetown, continues to investigate the case. Investigators remain committed to finding the person or persons responsible.

Police are asking anyone with information related to the case to email Crimetip@troopers.ny.gov or call 518-457-6811.
