HOUSTON — A man has been arrested and charged with capital murder following the fatal stabbing of a woman and a 2-year-old child inside an apartment at 12360 Richmond Avenue early Friday morning, according to Houston police.
Kendrick Rayvon Fisher, 29, was detained at the scene and later charged in the 209th State District Court. Police say the victims, a 28-year-old woman and her 2-year-old child, were found dead in the apartment with multiple stab wounds. Their identities are pending notification of their family by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The victims were his sister and niece, reports confirmed.
Officers were alerted to the incident around 3:10 a.m. by a citizen who reported that the woman and child were being held hostage in the apartment and expressed concerns for their safety. Upon arrival, officers found Fisher asleep on the couch. During a search of the apartment, they discovered the victims and pronounced them deceased at the scene with the assistance of Houston Fire Department paramedics.
Police noted that Fisher showed signs of a physical altercation and had blood on his clothing. After questioning him and consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, detectives charged Fisher with capital murder. He was taken into custody and booked into the Harris County Jail.
The case remains under investigation as authorities work to notify the victims’ family members and determine further details.
