Wilkes-Barre woman arrested after domestic assault and resisting police

WILKES-BARRE, PA — A woman was taken into custody early Thursday after allegedly assaulting another woman during a domestic dispute and resisting arrest, according to police.

Officers responded to a residence on Madison Street at 12:06 a.m. for a reported domestic altercation. Upon arrival, the 32-year-old victim told police that she had been involved in a verbal argument with Diaralini Garcia, 35, which escalated into violence.

The victim reported that Garcia threw a television down a staircase before physically assaulting her. Officers noted visible injuries on the victim that were consistent with the account provided.

When officers attempted to arrest Garcia, she resisted their efforts before being subdued and taken into custody. Garcia was transported to City Headquarters for processing and arraignment.

The victim’s condition was not disclosed, and authorities have not released further details about the incident.
