BALTIMORE, MD. — A 19-year-old bystander who was fatally shot during an October altercation in the Southern District has led to murder charges against three individuals following weeks of investigation.
Cameran Holt was struck by gunfire during a shootout in the unit block of West Hamburg Street on October 27, an incident police say she was not involved in. Holt succumbed to her injuries on November 7 after being hospitalized for more than a week.
The suspects, identified as Daeshaun Clark, 27, of Severn, Md., Devontaye Richardson, 28, of Hanover, Md., and Alexis Cancel-Soto, 20, of Baltimore, were apprehended on November 21 and November 25. All three face first-degree murder charges and are being held at the Central Booking Intake Facility.
A second victim, a 28-year-old man who was also shot during the exchange, survived his injuries after being located at a hospital shortly after the shooting. Investigators say the suspects were engaged in a gunfight when Holt was unintentionally struck.
The arrests mark a significant breakthrough in a case that has drawn attention to the tragic consequences of gun violence.
