BOSTON, Mass. — A 16-year-old male has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in June on Fifield Street in Dorchester, Boston police announced Tuesday.
Officers from the Fugitive Unit apprehended the juvenile suspect during an ongoing investigation near Homer Street. The suspect, who was wanted on a warrant for murder and multiple firearm-related charges, was taken into custody following a traffic stop on Neptune Road.
Police said the suspect was in possession of a firearm loaded with 13 rounds at the time of his arrest. In addition to the charges on the warrant, the juvenile now faces additional charges, including carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of a high-capacity firearm. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
The arrest stems from an incident on June 28, when police responded to a report of a car crash into a building at 24 Fifield Street. Officers discovered the driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Edwin Diaz-Geraldo of Brighton, deceased at the scene, while a passenger was injured and transported to a hospital.
The Boston Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the homicide and urges anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.
