PITTSBURGH, Pa. — A 61-year-old Creighton woman is facing a felony charge after Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers discovered a handgun in her purse at the main security checkpoint at Pittsburgh International Airport early Saturday morning, authorities said.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:13 a.m. on November 23, 2024, when TSA officers spotted the firearm during routine screening and immediately alerted Allegheny County Police.
County police identified the woman as Lynda Lee and determined she did not possess a valid Pennsylvania concealed carry permit. Lee was subsequently charged with one felony count of carrying a firearm without a license.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation was notified of the incident, and TSA officials confirmed that passengers bringing firearms to airport security checkpoints may face federal civil fines of up to $10,000, with repeat offenders facing penalties of up to $13,910.
Officials remind travelers to familiarize themselves with firearm transportation laws and regulations before traveling to avoid serious legal consequences.
