Leland, NC – Raheem Hawkins-Boseman, 23, from Silver Spring, has been apprehended for the murder of Jessica Somerville, 27, following a tip from a citizen. He was captured late Wednesday night in Leland, North Carolina, with the help of the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals Service.
The incident occurred on March 17 at about 2:15 a.m. when officers responded to a shooting on Silver Hill Road. Somerville was found outside a business with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene. An arrest warrant for Hawkins-Boseman was issued by the Prince George’s County Police Department on March 19.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Hawkins-Boseman followed Somerville from a fast-food restaurant and shot her during a parking lot altercation. It was determined the suspect and victim did not know each prior to the encounter.
Hawkins-Boseman faces charges of first and second-degree murder, among others. He is currently held at the Brunswick County Detention Center, awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County. Authorities request anyone with further information on the case to contact the H
