WASHINGTON, D.C. — A man linked to a series of sex offenses spanning three years has been arrested, Metropolitan Police announced Thursday, marking a major breakthrough in a high-profile investigation.
Detectives with MPD’s Sexual Assault Unit arrested 33-year-old Uwana Ubom of Northwest D.C. on Wednesday, November 20, charging him with multiple offenses, including first-degree sexual abuse, third-degree sexual abuse, and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse. The charges stem from 12 incidents reported between 2021 and 2024, involving allegations of forced sexual contact, some at gunpoint.
Ubom is accused of targeting victims in locations across the District, including Georgia Avenue, Columbia Road, and Lanier Place in Northwest, as well as Montello Avenue in Northeast. In several instances, he allegedly brandished or implied he was armed with a handgun to force victims into compliance.
MPD detectives, with assistance from the United States Marshals Service, the FBI Washington Field Office, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, conducted an extensive investigation that led to Ubom’s arrest. Police are also releasing his image in case he is connected to additional, unreported offenses.
