Schenectady prepares for 55th annual holiday parade with road closures and parking restrictions

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — The 55th Annual Holiday Parade in Schenectady is set to bring festive cheer this Saturday evening, with festivities beginning at 5 p.m. and extensive preparations already underway.

The Schenectady Police Department announced that road closures will commence at 10 a.m. Saturday, starting with a section of State Street between Broadway and Clinton Street. Additional closures along the main parade route and nearby streets will expand from 2:30 p.m.

Parking restrictions will be enforced throughout the day to accommodate the event, which attracts thousands of spectators annually. Visitors are advised to plan ahead and adhere to posted signs.

The parade, a staple of the holiday season in the Capital Region, will feature floats, music, and community organizations. Organizers and law enforcement are urging attendees to exercise caution and follow traffic updates.

“We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday night!” the Schenectady Police Department said in a statement on social media.

The event marks a highlight of the holiday calendar, with families expected to line the streets for an evening of celebration.
