TOMS RIVER, N.J. — The VA New Jersey Healthcare System announced the official opening of its new Toms River Clinic at 1051 Hooper Avenue, set to welcome its first patients on Tuesday.
Toms River Mayor Daniel Rodrick is excited to announce the grand opening of a state-of-the-art Veterans Hospital in Toms River, a significant milestone for our community and a testament to our continued support for those who have bravely served our nation.
“This facility will provide essential healthcare services to our veterans, ensuring they receive high-quality, compassionate care close to home. With Ocean County boasting the highest percentage of veterans in the state, the opening of this hospital is especially significant. It offers our local heroes easy access to comprehensive healthcare at no cost, which is a vital benefit as they transition back into civilian life and manage their health and well-being,” Mayor Rodrick said.
Rodrick said the new Veterans Hospital features advanced medical technology and facilities designed to meet the unique needs of our veterans. From routine check-ups to specialized care, this hospital is equipped to provide a full range of medical services, ensuring that our veterans receive the best possible support.
“In addition to the health benefits for our veterans, this new facility is poised to have a positive impact on our local economy,” the mayor added. “The hospital will create jobs, stimulate local businesses, and bring in additional resources to our community, fostering growth and prosperity for all residents of Toms River. Mayor Rodrick would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Congressman Smith for his attendance and support during this momentous occasion. His efforts and dedication have been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition, demonstrating a strong commitment to our veterans and their families.”
The new facility replaces the Brick Clinic, which will permanently close on Monday, with all appointments scheduled after that date automatically transferred to the Toms River location. Veterans will receive updated appointment cards reflecting the change.
Patricia O’Kane, the Executive Medical Center Director, described the opening as “a significant milestone in our mission to provide world-class healthcare to our Veterans in Ocean County and beyond.”
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held last week with Congressman Chris Smith in attendance along with other local dignitaries and veterans.
The new clinic, designed to expand access and improve services, underscores the VA’s commitment to serving the healthcare needs of the veteran community in the region.
The Toms River facility reflects the VA’s ongoing effort to enhance healthcare infrastructure for veterans in Ocean County and beyond.
