EASTON, Md. — A retired factory worker from Caroline County claimed a $50,000 prize after his favorite number combination hit in the Maryland Lottery’s Pick 5 evening drawing on Nov. 13.

The Eastern Shore man, who has played variations of the numbers 3-1-8 for nearly 10 years, said the sequence has personal significance for his family. “I’ve won before with my 318, but never this big,” he told Lottery officials.

The winning ticket, a $1 straight bet, was purchased at R&R Beer, Wine & Liquor on 121 S. Washington Street in Easton while the man was visiting a friend nearby. He confirmed his win using the Lottery app and described the moment as overwhelming. “When I saw the winning number, my hands started shaking,” he said.

The winner plans to share the prize with his family and expressed gratitude for the life-changing luck. R&R Beer, Wine & Liquor will also receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
