OCOEE, Fla. – Nearly a year after the fatal shooting of a 60-year-old man in an apparent road rage incident, police in Ocoee have arrested Kendrick Jerrod Anderson, charging him with second-degree murder.
The incident occurred on Nov. 9, 2023, outside a Publix grocery store in Ocoee, a suburb of Orlando. Gregory C. Reed, 60, was found inside his Ford SUV with multiple gunshot wounds after crashing into a parked vehicle. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Reed succumbed to his injuries, police said.
Surveillance footage from the scene revealed that Reed’s SUV had come from an adjacent BP/Circle K gas station moments before the crash. According to a probable cause affidavit, a witness told police that a near-collision between Reed’s SUV and a Mercedes at the gas station sparked a heated verbal exchange between the drivers.
“They were shouting ‘what, what’ back and forth,” the witness told investigators, describing the apparent confrontation. The Mercedes was reportedly occupied by Anderson and another individual.
Ocoee police announced Anderson’s arrest in a press release on Friday, citing a year-long investigation that led to the charge. Anderson’s role in the shooting has not been fully detailed by law enforcement.
