Two teenagers charged in violent robbery spree that left one man dead in DC.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two juvenile suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with a series of robberies, including one that led to the death of a 39-year-old man in Northwest DC.

The crime spree began on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, when a man was found unconscious in the 500 block of T Street, Northwest, after being assaulted and robbed. The victim, identified as Bryan Smith of Northwest, was hospitalized with critical injuries and later died on Nov. 7. The cause and manner of his death are under investigation by the Northern Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office.

The suspects, a 16-year-old male and a 14-year-old male, both from Northeast DC, were linked to three additional robbery offenses that occurred on the same morning. These incidents included an assault with intent to commit robbery in the 1900 block of 14th Street, Northwest, and two separate robberies in the 1800 block of Vermont Avenue, Northwest, and the 900 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northeast.

On Nov. 14, 2024, following an investigation by detectives, the juveniles were arrested and charged with three counts of robbery and assault with intent to commit robbery.
