BALTIMORE, MD — A Prince George’s County woman, inspired by her mother’s advice to play sentimental numbers, has won a $50,000 top prize in the Maryland Lottery’s Pick 5 game.
The winner, who chose to remain anonymous and refers to herself as “Lucky First Timer,” played a $1 straight bet for the Nov. 10 evening and Nov. 11 midday drawings using numbers tied to family birthdays and anniversaries. Her numbers hit during the Nov. 10 evening drawing, making her $50,000 richer.
The Laurel resident shared that she first learned of her win while watching the drawing results on a news broadcast. She said she quickly shared the good news with her mother but kept the celebration private to avoid drawing attention.
She plans to use the prize money to pay bills, create a memorable holiday for her family, and save for future needs. She also expressed excitement about playing again, with hopes of another big win.
The winning ticket was purchased at Giant, located at 1155 Annapolis Road in Odenton. The retailer will receive a $500 bonus for selling the $50,000 prize-winning ticket.
