Theft Suspect Sought in Newark

NEWARK, N.J. — Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in the theft of a duffel bag outside a residence in Newark earlier this week. The incident was captured on surveillance footage, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr., the theft occurred on Nov. 11 around 3:56 p.m. on the 40 block of Monroe Street. The victim had momentarily left her duffel bag in front of her home while at the back door when the suspect approached and took the bag.

The suspect, described as an African-American male with long dreadlocks, was seen riding a red bicycle. At the time of the theft, he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a logo on the front, black pants, and gray sneakers.

The stolen bag reportedly contained the victim’s personal belongings. Police have not disclosed further details about the items inside or the value of the theft.
