PHILADELPHIA, PA — Authorities are searching for a suspect involved in a shooting that occurred during an illegal car meet in South Philadelphia early Sunday morning, according to police.
The incident took place at approximately 1:30 a.m. on September 22 near 25th Street and Washington Avenue, where hundreds of people and vehicles gathered, creating chaos in the neighborhood. Police said the crowd caused property damage, vandalizing nearby homes and businesses in the area.
The situation escalated when a resident confronted members of the group about the vandalism. The crowd turned violent, attacking the victim by punching them and hitting them with traffic cones and drums.
During the altercation, some individuals in the group were seen with firearms. Police say one suspect, after brandishing and preparing a firearm, discharged it into the air. No injuries from gunfire were reported.
Authorities have released a video related to the incident and are urging anyone with information about the suspect to contact them. Investigators continue to review evidence to identify those involved.
