ELYRIA, OH — Courtney Saunders of Elyria has scored a $50,000 prize on the Ohio Lottery’s Billion scratch-off, just in time for the holiday season.
Saunders purchased the winning ticket at Convenient Supermarket, located at 1227 Lake Ave. She was scratching off the ticket with her husband when she began matching numbers, leading to the discovery of her big win. “I was in awe,” she said.
After mandatory state and federal taxes, Saunders will take home approximately $36,000. She plans to use her winnings toward a new house, Christmas, and three upcoming birthdays.
Billion is a $50 scratch-off with a top prize of $1 million a year for 20 years. As of November 7, three top prizes remain in the game.
