Quick Arrest Made in Northwest D.C. Robbery Attempt WASHINGTON, DC - Following a Northwest robbery attempt, D.C. Metro Police Department’s Third District detectives have swiftly apprehended a suspect. The incident occurred today around 2:53 PM, in the 1200 block of W Street, Northwest. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Lenare Leath, Jr. of Northwest D.C., allegedly brandished a knife and pushed the victim to the ground in an attempt to steal their property. After a struggle, the suspect fled empty-handed but was quickly caught by responding officers. The victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. WASHINGTON, D.C. — An armed carjacking in Northwest Washington ended in a swift arrest on Sunday, thanks to a rapid response by Metropolitan Police officers.

The incident took place on November 3, 2024, around 3:08 p.m., when a suspect reportedly entered a vehicle idling in the 3300 block of 14th Street, NW. The suspect brandished a firearm, ordered the driver out, and then fled in the victim’s vehicle. The driver was unharmed.

Officers quickly canvassed the area and located both the suspect and the stolen vehicle shortly after the incident. The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Tyrone Nicholson, Jr., of Northwest D.C., was arrested without incident.

Nicholson faces multiple charges, including Armed Carjacking (Gun), Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Leaving After Colliding – Property Damage, No Permit, and two counts of Receiving Stolen Property.
