Seaside Park, NJ – Ocean County First Assistant Prosecutor Michael T. Nolan, Jr., announced charges against Genell Mcinaw, 50, for Vehicular Homicide, Strict Liability Vehicular Homicide, and Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash Resulting in Death. These charges are linked to an incident on September 23 in Seaside Heights that led to the death of Robert Popovics, 75, of Seaside Park.
On the evening of September 23, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Seaside Heights Police responded to Dupont Avenue and the Boulevard for a report of a man lying in the roadway. Officers found Mr. Popovics unconscious with severe injuries and transported him to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment.
An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Seaside Heights Police, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office determined that a dark-colored sedan struck Mr. Popovics and fled.
