GAITHERSBURG, Md. — A Gaithersburg woman has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly killing her mother and leaving the body outside their home, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police.

Tiffany Zhang, 29, was arrested on Monday, November 4, following a call she made to the police at approximately 9:53 a.m. In her call, Zhang reportedly informed the Emergency Communications Center that she had killed her mother, 63-year-old Guichun Hu, the day before and left her body in a nearby grass field outside their residence in the 19400 block of Olive Tree Way.

When officers from the 6th District arrived at the scene, they found Zhang waiting outside. Police located Hu’s body in the grassy area as described. Hu was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division’s Homicide Section responded to the location to investigate. The victim’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy is scheduled for November 5 to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Zhang was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Central Processing Unit, where she was formally charged with first-degree murder. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged homicide.
