COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus man is celebrating a $50,000 win after an unplanned stop at Easton Duchess #1634 on Morse Road led him to purchase an Ohio Lottery Billion scratch-off ticket. Initially thinking he’d won $500, he was stunned to discover his prize was actually $50,000.
“I scanned it with my phone and realized I won $50,000,” the winner said, describing his reaction as “dumbfounded.”
After mandatory federal and state taxes of 28%, he will take home approximately $36,000. He plans to use his winnings to pay off debt.
The Billion scratch-off game costs $50 and offers a top prize of $1 million a year for 20 years. As of October 31, three top prizes remain unclaimed. The Columbus man’s story highlights the excitement of Ohio Lottery’s high-stakes scratch-off games, which continue to attract players across the state.
